VALVE CLEARANCES

One of the most important jobs on the Laverdas is to maintain correct valve clearances. With changing fuel quality valve clearance can sometimes rapidly close, which will eventually cause cam lobe, bucket/rocker damage and eventually valve damage. Keep an eye on them.

Here is something I have found useful in working on my bike. Instead of scrawling down shim clearances on scraps of paper, print these sheets out and file them in a folder. You'll always know what shim is in there and hence what you need to order before you tear it down. Separate files for triples and 8v twins - of course those 4v twins don't need it!
