GRUPPO LAVERDA

The Laverda family company can be traced back to the very beginnings of the 20th Century, and as far back as 1858 there was evidence of the Laverda ingenuity when Pietro Laverda Senior produced a wooden clockwork mechanism at an ago of just 13! The Family company was founded as a producer of agricultural machinery, it continued untill 1981 when it was sold to FIAT, with production continuing later under the name New Holland.

Along the way the Laverda group of companies produced an amazingly diverse range of products, from farm machinery, caravans, castings, and even at one time aeroplanes. Perhaps the best known "other" product to the motorcycling world was in the early 80's when they sought to supply for a tender for 4x4 trucks for the Italian Government. Sadly not the greatest success on the planet...

I will endeavour to produce a more concise history at some stage, when I have plenty of spare time. :-)
