SKYPE Here's something a bit new... heard of VoIP? Voice over IP. Better-than-telephone-quality full duplex conversation over your internet connection. Works a treat- and TOTALLY FREE and they do not even require any personal information so it's good for people like me who are wary of submitting personal info to websites just for the dubious honour of 'membership'. Check it out here: http://www.skype.com So here's a thought, hook up with a Laverda nutter today! Not sure how to implement it as yet, but I'd like to work on a "Laverda Group". Maybe even one of the other VoIP services other than Skype would work better, but Skype is what I have used a lot. Clear voice communication does require a minimum speed broadband connection (I'm only on 256/64 and it works fine), but text chat is possible for users on dial-up connections. Up to four people can 'conference call' as well (haven't yet tried it though), so it opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities. Of course time zones complicate matters, but that's life. You will find me on jota 79, without the space. :-) Cheers All content copyright of breganzane.com 1996-2005. |
